The Buol family immigrated to Tyrol from Graubünden (Swizerland) in the 17th century and built the residence. The sand stone entrance on the street side of the building was formally related to the one on the Franciscan church, and as a consequence built in 1640. This was the residential building of the folk storyteller Maria von Buol (1861–1943).
