The red wine Merlot is originally from Bordeaux in France. In South Tyrol it yields elegant, lightly herbaceous red wines, garnet to dark garnet in colour with an aroma of wild cherry and blackcurrant. On the palate it is full-bodied, velvety and lightly tannic. The productions areas regard the South of South Tyrol, Überetsch, Bozen valley basin and the Adige Valley which is a total area planted of 226 ha.
Merlot goes well with game birds, venison and piquant cheeses and is supposed to be served at room temperature of 18-20 C
