Südtirol St. Magdalener

The "Magdalener" flourishes on the hills and slopes north of Bolzano. Like the "Meraner", it is made from Vernatsch, but it may contain up to 15 percent Lagrein or Pinot Nero. "St. Magdalener" is regarded as especially strong, and among the Vernatsch wines of South Tyrol, it is perhaps the most highly prized. Its area of cultivation encompasses approximately 258 hectares (637 acres).
